Update : 07 Sep 2023, 11:04 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will plant a sampling of the Haribhanga mango variety in New Delhi during her visit to G20 summit, said Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Thursday.

The Haribhanga mango has recently gained popularity in Bangladesh. Farmers in the northwest part of Bangladesh, especially in the Rangpur district, mostly produce this variety.

The prime minister earlier in June sent fresh seasonal mangoes as gifts to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Former President of the Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi and other Indian dignitaries.

The prime minister had gifted mangoes to Indian dignitaries in the past as a goodwill gesture.

During the visit, the prime minister will have a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Three Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) related to agriculture, culture and trade using the currencies of the two countries, rupee-taka, would be signed during the visit.

At the conference, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will speak in two sessions on the theme of the summit - “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

She will highlight climate change, post-pandemic economic recovery and challenges that emerged due to the Russia-Ukraine war, particularly in the food and energy sectors, among others.
