Russian House in Dhaka on Monday hosted celebrations to mark the 51st anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, in collaboration with Liberation War Academy Trust.
Members of various educational institutions and organizations were present on the occasion, said a press release.
At the event, Liberation War Academy Trust Chairman Abdul Kalam Azad and freedom fighters from different districts recalled the role of the Soviet Union and Russia in the overall development of Bangladesh, including the Liberation War and the reconstruction of war-torn Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Post Editor-In-Chief Sharif Shahab Uddin thanked the organizers and said Russia is a trusted friend of Bangladesh as well as a development partner.
Russian House Director Maxim Dobrokhotov conveyed his sincere greetings and congratulations to Bangladesh.
He also drew attention to the historical background of bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and Bangladesh, their continuity and the current progressive developments in the political, economic and cultural fields, and interaction in higher education.
