Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam left Dhaka on Monday, leading a seven-member high-level delegation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an effort to create more overseas employment for Bangladeshi in the oil-rich middle eastern nation, reports BSS.
During the visit, the Bangladesh minister will hold bilateral meetings with UAE Human Resources and Emiratisation Minister Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash and Deputy Prime Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the interior minister, to discuss various issues related to overseas employment generation and the welfare of expatriate Bangladeshi workers.
Though the UAE is an important overseas labour market for Bangladesh, currently it is recruiting Bangladeshi manpower for only a few of its sectors. The main aim of the delegation's visit is to make the UAE market open for Bangladeshi workers, an official handout said here Monday.
The minister is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on May 21.
