The 101st anniversary of Bolshevik Revolution was observed, on Wednesday, in the port city of Chittagong.

For the anniversary, Bangladesh Trade Union Sangha – a left-leaning labour organization – organized a discussion at its party office at Dost Building.

Khorshed Alam, Chittagong chapter president of the organization, presided over the meeting that was addressed by the representatives of: the Bangladesh OSK Garment and Textile Workers' Federation; the Hotel, Restaurant and Bakery Workers' Union the National Democratic Front; and Bangladesh Krishak Sangram Samilty—among others.

The discussants at the meeting said that Bolshevik Revolution was a historic revolution in human history.

“Under the leadership Comrade Lenin, the workers and peasants of Russia were united and overthrew the tyrannical bourgeois government and established the rights of people through the great revolution,” they said.

They also called upon everyone to be energized by the spirit of the revolution and end all forms of injustice in the society.

On October 24 and 25, in 1917, leftist revolutionaries – led by Bolshevik Party leader Vladimir Lenin – launched a nearly-bloodless coup and a socialist Russia was formed.
