The muhurat (launching ceremony) of a film based on the novel “Ganchill”, written by Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, took place on Wednesday at the Dhaka Club.
The shooting of the film will begin next month. The story is based on the life of people in the coastal belt of Cox's Bazar.
Quader and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, State Minister for Information, Tarana Halim, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association President, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, and actors Tarik Anam Khan, Ferdous Ahmed, Purnima, and Rituparna Sengupta took part in the launching ceremony, reports UNB.
Quader said: "The politicians of the sub-continent do not write novels, but I have written one. I want to project the real life story of coastal people and that's why I spent a week with the coastal people in Cox's Bazar after my release from jail."
The novel was a best seller after it was published in the Ekushey Boi Mela.
The minister said it was beyond his imagination that a film would be made based on his novel.
Minister Inu said: “This film will play an important role in portraying the development of the country.”
Asaduzzaman Noor said it is a great example of a politician's creative work.
