Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday urged the people of the country to re-elect the Awami League to power to maintain the current upward trend of development.
“I urge all to re-elect the Awami League to power by casting vote for boat [they party’s electoral symbol]. People will stand to benefit if they cast their votes for this symbol,” she said during a view exchange meeting at Dhaka Cantonment Station after jointly laying the foundation stone of Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline between Shiliguri in West Bengal and Parbatipur in Dinajpur with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi via videoconference.
Sheikh Hasina expressed gratitude to the people of the country for giving her party the opportunity to serve them.
She said the country had witnessed massive development with the Awami League government in power for 10 years at a stretch from 2009 to 2018. “The country saw real development in 1996-2001 and 2009-2018 [during the tenure of Awami League],” she added.
The prime minister said Bangladesh was well on its way to becoming a developing country, and had achieved 7.86% GDP growth – the highest in the country’s history.
