Jatiya Party (JaPa) Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Tuesday said those elected from his party will participate in the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, as most of them are still outside Dhaka.
“We will take oath later, after holding a meeting with Chairman GM Quader upon return of elected members from their areas,” he said.
Awami League-backed candidates won 222 seats in the 12th national parliament election.
JaPa candidates won only 11 seats and three candidates from three parties each -- Bangladesh Workers’ Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Bangladesh Kalyan Party -- secured victory in their respective constituencies.
