National polls: Two JaPa candidates withdraw from Chuadanga

  • Withdrew over JaPa’s constant change in decisions
  • Complained of a lack of support from JaPa central leaders
Update : 03 Jan 2024, 06:18 PM

Two Jatiya Party (JaPa) candidates have announced their withdrawal from the elections in the two constituencies of Chuadanga.

The candidates are Advocate Sohrab Hossain from Chuadanga-1 and Advocate Robiul Islam from Chuadanga-2.

They made this announcement during a press conference in Chuadanga on Wednesday afternoon.

The candidates said they decided to withdraw because of constant changes in election-related decisions by the party chairman and secretary-general, and because of hostility, non-cooperation, and lack of communication with them.

The candidates said they were disrespected and criticized by voters because the party's chairman and secretary-general were taking advantage from the Awami League.

“We were forced to withdraw from the elections due to financial issues and a lack of support from the party's central leaders,” Sohrab Hossain said.

Responding to a question from journalists, JaPa candidate Advocate Sohrab Hossain said: "There are no restrictions on JaPa voters. They can vote for their favourite candidate. There will be no impact on the election due to the boycott of the election by JaPa candidates.”
