Coast Guard operations strengthened ahead of election

Ahead of the 12th national parliamentary election, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has intensified its operations to uphold law and order in coastal areas. 

On Tuesday afternoon, an election patrol was conducted along the banks of the Pasur River, with Director General of Coast Guard Rear Admiral Ashraful Haque Chowdhury overseeing and inspecting their activities.

He said: "In line with the directives of the Election Commission for the 12th national parliamentary election, the Coast Guard has been mobilized as a mobile and striking force from December 29, 2023, to January 10, 2024. Our mission is to ensure the overall peace and order protection of 43 coastal unions. Committed to the instructions of the Election Commission, the Bangladesh Coast Guard remains actively engaged in fulfilling its responsibilities to establish an environment conducive to a free, fair, and impartial election."

He further emphasized that individuals found violating the law during the election period would face arrest.
