The ruling Awami League is offering a total of 37 seats to its allies such as the Jatiya Party (JaPa), and the 14-party alliance in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections.
The candidates of the ruling party will withdraw their candidacy on Sunday.
As the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers, it will be clear on which seats the allies are going to get concessions.
According to multiple sources, the Jatiya Party (JaPa) is getting 26 seats, three parties of 14 Party Alliance are getting seven seats and four more seats will be allotted to other parties.
Awami League announced the final decision on Saturday night after a series of meetings with the parties concerned over these seats.
Sources said Awami League is proposing seven additional seats, incorporating 19 Members of Parliament from JaPa in the current parliamentary session, along with former MPs from the two previous parliaments.
In these 26 constituencies, the candidates of the Awami League will withdraw, demonstrating support for the candidate representing the plough symbol.
In the present parliamentary session, there are eight MPs representing four parties within the 14-party alliance.
Of them, three MPs of the Workers Party are also getting exemption this time.
While one of the three MPs from the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) has been excluded, the party is being granted a concession in another constituency.
Additionally, an MP from JaPa is also receiving an exemption.
Besides, Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, chairman of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, an ally of the 14-Party Alliance, is an MP of the Chittagong-2 constituency. It was learned that the Awami League's new ally Bangladesh Supreme Party is getting concessions in his constituency.
Three more newly registered parties are getting concessions in three seats of Awami League.
In this regard, Awami League Information and Research Secretary Salim Mahmud said: "You will know everything about the matter on Sunday.”
AFM Bahauddin Nasim, joint general secretary of the party, said: "The decision will be known very soon.”
After the conclusion of six days of appeal hearings, a total of 2,260 candidates are officially valid to contest in the election.
The Election Commission (EC) fixed Sunday as the deadline to withdraw nomination papers and distribution of electoral symbols among finalized candidates on December 18.
The returning officers will allot the symbols on December 18. The candidates will then go on the campaign, which will continue till 8am on January 5.
The national polls will be held on January 7.
