The ruling Awami League (AL) has primarily decided to share seven constituencies with the partners of the 14-party alliance to contest the January 7 general election.
The decision was taken in a meeting with the partners on Thursday night, Awami League Presidium Member and alliance coordinator Amir Hossain Amu told the media.
Before reaching the decision, the Awami League sat with the allies several times.

JaSoD President Hasanul Haque Inu will contest from Kushtia-2 constituency, Mosharraf Hossain from Lakshmipur-4, and Rezaul Karim Tansen will contest from Bogra-4 constituency.
Earlier on December 4, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed the alliance coordinator, Amir Hossain Amu, and party’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader to follow up on the issue.
During a meeting on that day, Sheikh Hasina briefed the alliance leaders on the recent developments in the political arena. She also shared information on the national and international pressure on the election and urged everyone to be united before and after the polls.
The ruling party chief instructed the alliance leaders not to withdraw the party candidates from the electoral race.
It was decided that the alliance would not include any party, but there could be some strategic alliances before the election.
