Jatiya Party's Chief Patron and Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament, Raushan Ershad has welcomed the polls schedule announced by the Election Commission.
In a statement issued after the announcement of the schedule, she said it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to conduct the 12th parliamentary election in a free, fair and impartial manner as per the schedule announced.
In the statement, she expressed hope that all the concerned authorities, including the Election Commission, will perform the duties assigned to them with dedication.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced that the 12th parliamentary election of the country will be held on January 7.
The CEC came up with the announcement for the next election schedule while addressing the nation at 7 pm.
According to the constitution, the tenure of the current government will end on January 29, 2024.
