The Election Commission has allocated electoral symbols among the three candidates contesting the upcoming by-election in the Bogra-6 (Sadar) constituency.
District Election Officer and Returning Officer Fazlul Karim distributed the symbols around 11:30am on Sunday.
According to the allocation, BNP candidate Rezaul Karim Badsha received the party’s symbol Sheaf of Paddy, while Jamaat candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel was allotted the Daripalla symbol. Bangladesh Development Party candidate Al Amin Talukder received the Cauliflower symbol.
The by-election was announced after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman vacated the Bogra-6 seat ahead of taking oath as a Member of Parliament. Tarique Rahman had been elected from two constituencies in the 13th National Parliament election and later chose to retain the other seat, leaving Bogra-6 vacant.
As per the election schedule announced by the Election Commission, voting in the Bogra-6 by-election will take place on April 9.
Returning Officer Fazlul Karim said that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a free, fair and impartial election. He expressed hope that voters in Bogra Sadar would be able to cast their votes in a festive and peaceful atmosphere.
