Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) has claimed there have been irregularities and vote rigging in the 11th general election.
Similar claims have also been made by the BNP and the Jatiya Oikyo Front.
According to the IAB, who had candidates in 298 of the 300 constituency seats, there was vote rigging at many polling centres in 25 constituencies.
The party wanted to submit a complaint regarding the issue to the Election Commission but Election Commission officials at Agargaon did not meet with them, said IAB Senior Joint Secretary General, Hemayet Uddin.
Hemayet alleged ballot papers marked with the “hand fan” (Hath Pakha) symbol were torn up by Awami League activists at the Anondolok High School polling centre in Narayangonj 4 constituency.
He further claimed one of their activists from Dhaka 6 constituency is a victim of “forced disappearance.”
