According to the district Special Branch (SB), 337 of the 509 polling centres in the four constituencies of Nilphamari have been classified as "important."
SB Officer-in-Charge Laisur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that additional security measures have been taken at these 337 centres.
Additional Superintendent of Police ABM Atiqur Rahman added that 15 out of 89 polling centres in Nilphamari 3 constituency were also classified as important, and as a result, security has been bolstered in them too.
“Every centre will comprise a 12-member Ansar team and one police official, alongside a 10-member police patrol,” he added.
Additionally, 16 Border Guard Bangladesh platoons and Rapid Action Battalion teams have been deployed in the district, with the armed forces providing support as a striking force, along with an on-duty magistrate.
There are 1,292,380 voters in the district; of them 649,435 are men and 642,945 are women.
