SSC result 2014: Boys outshine girls

The male students had performed better than female examinees in this year’s SSC result in terms of GPA 5 and pass rate.

This year, some 1,426,923 students appeared for the examination of which 731,690 were male and 695,233 were female students.

Around 1,303,331 students managed to pass the exam, where 671961 were male and 631,370 female. Male students were also ahead of females in terms of GPA 5 by secured around 12,826 more that the girls.

In terms of grades, 77,551 boys received GPA 5 while 64,725 girls received an A+. In 2013, some 142,276 students received A+ and 91,226 students received GPA 5.

The pass rate of boys and girls were at 91.84% and 90.81% respectively for this year and the overall pass rate was at 91.34 percent, posting a 2.31% increase compared to last year.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid formally handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 10am yesterday.
