Students of Dhaka University have formed a human chain on the campus protesting the recent assault on a female student.
They have demanded immediate punishment to the student responsible for assault on the female student, a 22nd batch first year student of Institute of Business Administration (IBA).
The students have also demanded security of the general students on the campus.
Earlier, Tamhir, a first year student at University of Professional and her alleged boyfriend, said to have assaulted the female student on the campus on April 15, friends and family say.
The assulted student attended treatments at Square Hospitals after the assault.
Her mother filed a General Diary (GD) with Shahbagh police station in this regard, the station's Officer-in-Charge Serajul Islam confirmed.
Dhaka University Proctor Amzad Ali said a notice was sent to the authorities of University of Professional in this regard. “We hope actions will be taken soon.”
However, no actions were taken until now, what prompted the students to launch a human chain programme at Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) on Monday morning.
