The Jahangirnagar University Debate Organization (JUDO) has announced a major restructuring of its executive committee following an emergency meeting on June 13.

The decision aims to strengthen leadership and ensure continuity in the organization’s activities for the rest of the year.

Prominent debater Farim Ahsan, a student from the 49th batch of the Department of Economics, has been unanimously appointed as JUDO’s new General Secretary.

His selection follows the resignation of former Events Secretary, Sadat Ibne Islam, due to personal reasons.

In light of this, Barna Saha Bishal (51st batch, Economics) has been appointed as the new Events Secretary.

Additional key appointments within the revised executive committee include Wasik Ahmed Apon (52nd batch, Computer Science & Engineering) as ICT Secretary, alongside Pronoy Saha (Fine Arts) and Tanzila Tasnim Setu (Anthropology) as Executive Members.

A significant structural change was also introduced—merging the separate roles of Vice President (Bangla debate) and Vice President (English debate) into a single Vice President (Debate) position, now held by Sadman Olive (49th batch, Anthropology).

Meanwhile, Lamia Islam Protyasha (49th batch, History) has been appointed as Vice President (Administration).

The remaining members of the 21-member executive committee will continue their roles under the leadership of JUDO President Mirza Sakir (49th batch, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering).

The organization emphasized that this restructuring aligns with JUDO’s long-standing traditions and procedural norms.

Members of the executive body and the wider JUDO debating community have pledged to uphold the art of argumentation and debate, appealing for the full support of stakeholders to drive the organization’s mission forward.
