Dr AKM Reazul Hassan, chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), has said it will be possible to distribute all textbooks to students by Sunday.
The NCTB chairman told Bangla Tribune on Tuesday that 99.93% of primary and 91.67% of secondary level books have been distributed.
"Ten million books are yet to be printed, and 20 to 25 million books still need binding. These will be supplied by March 16.”
Reazul said some areas may receive extra books, while others may have shortages. However, any necessary replacements will be made within March, he added.
Meanwhile, at a press conference in the afternoon, the NCTB chairman said: "We tried to provide all the books within today or tomorrow. Now, we are competing with March 17, 2023. Even if we can deliver by March 16, we will be second from the back."
During the press conference, he also revealed that about eight weaker institutions are not cooperating. "These institutions do not have a large number of books, he said, adding that a conspiracy is behind imposing the new curriculum on them to hinder progress, but they are working to overcome these challenges.
