The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced the admission fees, tuition fees, and internship fees for the 2024-25 session of MBBS courses in government and private medical colleges, as well as BDS courses in dental colleges or dental units.
According to two separate notifications issued on Thursday, by Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of the Medical Education-1 branch, the admission fee for government medical colleges has been set at Tk11,000.
Additional fees will apply for medical universities or universities, including registration and affiliated fees.
For private medical colleges, the admission fee for the MBBS course is set at Tk19,44,000, while the BDS admission fee is Tk11,00,000. Internship fees are set at Tk1,80,000, with a monthly tuition fee of Tk10,000.
The payment structure is as follows: 60% of the total fees (admission and internship) must be paid at the time of admission, 20% at the first professional exam, and 20% at the third professional exam.
Tuition fees are to be paid monthly, and no additional fees beyond the prescribed amounts will be allowed.
For government medical colleges, additional fees include Tk50 for admission, Tk300 for annual tuition, Tk6,000 for internal exams, Tk200 for identity cards, and Tk300 for library cards, among others. The total additional fees amount to Tk9,750.
The prescribed fees will also apply to foreign students under the Saarc quota. Non-Saarc foreign students will be required to deposit a mandatory USD 5,000 per academic year into the government treasury.
This announcement comes after a previous notification from the Ministry of Health in 2018, which set the MBBS admission fee at Tk16,20,000. In February 2023, the fee was revised to Tk19,44,000.
