Khulna University has appointed a new vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor and treasurer for the next four years.
Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, of the Urban and Rural Planning Discipline of Khulna University, has been appointed as the 13th vice-chancellor of the university for the next four years from the date of joining.
Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan, of the Physics Discipline, and Prof Dr Md Nurunnabi, of the Business Administration Discipline, have been appointed as pro-vice-chancellor and treasurer of the university, respectively.
An Education Ministry circular signed by Deputy Secretary Mst Rokhsana Begum was issued regarding this on Thursday.
Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim will receive a salary and allowances equivalent to his current position, along with other relevant benefits as per regulations, and will remain on campus full-time. He is the third Vice-Chancellor appointed from among the university's faculty.
Additionally, Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan and Prof Dr Md Noorunnabi will receive a salary and allowances equivalent to their current position, along with other relevant benefits, and must also remain on campus full-time.
Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim's academic qualifications are notable and extensive. He earned his PhD in Geography and Environment from Rajshahi University. Prior to joining Khulna University, he worked with the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute and the Capital Development Authority.
Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan has published over 130 scientific research papers during his 32-year teaching career, which have garnered more than 11,000 citations. Prof Dr Md Noorunnabi completed his Master’s degree at Leipzig University in Germany under the DAAD Scholarship. He obtained his PhD from the same university in 2010 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship there in 2011-12.
