Fourth phase of admissions for 24 GST universities suspended

  • Suspension comes after reviewing complaints
  • Discrepancies found in the subject selection, waiting list of Unit A
Update : 05 Sep 2024, 03:16 PM

The preliminary admission process for the fourth phase of the GST-affiliated universities has been suspended.

The announcement was made in an emergency notification on the GST website (https://gstadmission.ac.bd/) on Thursday, following advice from the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

According to the notification, the suspension comes after reviewing complaints received via the “complaint box” over the past few days.

The admission process, based on the published merit list, is ongoing, but discrepancies were found in the subject selection and waiting list of Unit A, particularly concerning the number of seats in some subjects at two universities.

No applicants had been confirmed for admission based on the erroneous list, and the issue was rectified within four hours.

The batch admission committee expressed regret for the unintended mistake, and admissions have since resumed with the corrected list.

Final admissions will commence after completing the preliminary admissions for the fourth stage. Individual universities will decide the final admission dates and when classes will start.

Due to administrative vacancies in many universities under the GST cluster and the ongoing flood situation, there has been a delay in setting final admission and class commencement dates.

Once a decision is made, students will be informed accordingly.

In response to student demands, a final migration process (both subject and university) will be conducted within the GST cluster, subject to seat availability.

The suspension of the fourth stage preliminary admission was announced in an emergency notification on Thursday.
