East West University (EWU) has provided its Merit Scholarship Award to 249 students from the spring, summer and fall semester 2023 students for excellent academic performance.
Most of the scholarship recipients were female.
The ceremony took place at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium of EWU, Aftabnagar, Dhaka, on Sunday.
The chief guest of the ceremony was Edimon Ginting, country director of Bangladesh Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
In his speech, Ginting congratulated the recipients and shared that he had also received a scholarship during his student life, which inspired him to achieve his current position.
He encouraged the students to dream big and contribute to the country’s growth.
Ginting emphasized that development is not just about constructing high buildings and flyovers but about improving people’s living standards through education and knowledge.
Additionally, he presented certificates to the scholarship recipients.
EWU Board of Trustees MemberHN Ashequr Rahman was the special guest at the program. EWU ViceChancellor Prof Shams Rahman delivered the welcome remark on the occasion.
EWU Chief Adviser and founder vice chancellor ProfMohammed Farashuddin was the program chair.
Members of the Board of Trustees, pro vice chancellor, treasurer, deans, faculty members, officers, recipients and their guardians were also present at the ceremony.
