Save the Children's month-long “SHIFT” campaign concluded with a grand closing fair at JSU Model High School in Bakerganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The event brought together campaign participants, local dignitaries, and the community to highlight the importance of equal participation of boys and girls in higher education.

At the beginning of the fair, speakers stressed the significance of gender equality in higher education for the overall development of families, society, and the nation. The local community actively engaged in the fair, demonstrating support for the campaign's goals.

The fair featured various stalls, including an information centre, a Ludo game, an exhibition of SHIFT activities, dartboard games, animation, and quiz competitions.

The SHIFT campaign, initiated by Save the Children Bangladesh on October 31 in Bakerganj upazila, aimed to boost women's participation in higher education. Twenty young individuals passionate about social service took on the responsibility and leadership, guiding a month-long series of programs.

Activities included co-creation meetings, school events, and parent meetings to underscore the campaign's objectives.

The campaign launched on October 31 in Bakerganj Sadar upazila captured local attention, raising awareness about the importance of higher education for girls. School events in eight schools and SHIFTers traversing the four unions of Bakerganj Upazila conveyed messages about the significance of women's education to the local community.

Eight separate parent's meetings provided SHIFTters an opportunity to interact with parents, emphasizing the importance of educating daughters in higher education. The SHIFT campaign in Bakerganj serves as a model, concluding with optimism that women's education will resonate across Bangladesh. This effort is part of Save the Children International's ongoing Global SHIFT Campaign, empowering young activists aged 15–25 to plan and execute public events for positive social and environmental change, with comprehensive support provided in their endeavours.
