Stamford University holds seminar on FY18 budget

Stamford University Bangladesh’s Department of Economics organised a seminar on the fiscal year 2017-18 National Budget in its Dhanmondi campus, Dhaka last week. Chairman of the Department Prof Dr Md Habibur Rahman presided the event where faculty members and students of the department discussed the opportunities and the constraints of the current budget, said a press release. Prof Rahman said the size of the 46th budget of Bangladesh has been fixed at Tk400,266 crore which is 17% more in monetary terms than the previous year. He said although the government has announced a deficit budget, the country’s development work is progressing fast. He said implementation of such a budget would not be a big problem. The faculty members and students of the department attended the seminar to learn and share their views about the current fiscal year’s budget.
