The secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions will remain open until April 20 during the holy month of Ramadan, according to the latest order issued on Monday.
Mohammad Abul Khayer, public relations officer at the Ministry of Education, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the ministry, he said.
On March 28, the ministry issued a notification saying that classes would continue till April 26.
The notification said that the curriculum activities of the educational institutions had suffered a setback due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It said that to minimize the academic losses of students, in-person classes would be conducted during Ramadan, following health safety guidelines.
On March 27, Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akond filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking the closure of educational institutions across the country during the month of Ramadan.
