Education authorities have decided that it will allow students of privately run kindergartens to attend government primary schools to curb the dropout rate amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Concerned officials have already been instructed to take all necessary steps to ensure that these children can easily shift to a government primary school at any time of the year as many private institutions are being forced to shut down due to the ongoing crisis.
A letter signed by Primary and Mass Education Ministry Secretary Akram-al-Hossain was issued in this regard on Sunday.
All the educational institutions of the country are currently closed due to the onslaught of the coronavirus. This has resulted in students leaving the city for their ancestral homes. It has been learned from the social media and other sources that many private kindergarten schools may have to close down because of the current situation, said the letter.
Thus, to ensure that students who were studying at these institutions do not become dropouts, they will be allowed to get admission to their nearest government primary school.
However, one has to provide documents of their previous institutions – ID card, payment receipt, school diary, books – verified by the headmaster of the concerned government school to benefit from this initiative. No transfer certificates (TC) are necessary for admission, added the letter.
