One of the nation’s leading higher education institutes is set to hold its first virtual orientation program for the Summer 2020 semester to continue making inroads in online education.
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) generally holds its orientation programs at its sprawling Bashundhara R/A campus, but with the Covid-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, authorities have decided to move forward with a virtual orientation session.
The students admitted in the Summer 2020 semester will receive their orientation on Saturday, July 4, from 11:05am to 11:55am. Dhaka Tribune will broadcast the virtual orientation program on its website.
Among the speakers will be IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Milan Pagon, Board of Trustees Chairman Mr A Matin Chowdhury, Registrar Md Anwarul Islam, Business Dean Prof Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, Engineering, Technology & Sciences Dean Prof Mohammed Anwer, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Dean Prof Imtiaz A. Hussain, Pharmacy & Public Health Dean Prof JMA Hannan, and Environment & Life Sciences Dean Prof Shah M Faruque, and Media and Public Relations DIrector Kh Aminul Haque will act as the moderator.
Classes for the Summer 2020 semester are set to begin Sunday, July 5.
