Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved it on Thursday

Update : 25 Jun 2020, 11:49 PM

The pre-primary education, the foundation of childhood education, is going to be extended to two years from existing one year.

Confirming the matter, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Akram-Al-Hossain said they have received approval from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard on Thursday.

He also said that the children would have to begin the pre-primary learning at 4+ years of age instead of 5+ years, reports UNB.

The government took the decision as pre-primary education is directly connected to children's dropping out rate in country, Hossain said.

School dropout rate reduced significantly during 2010 to 2019 after launching one year pre-primary learning system, according to Annual Primary School survey, he added.
