Sursudha Sangeetayan, the only cultural organization of visually impaired musicians in the country, organized an enchanting cultural program.

Featuring performances by both differently abled and non-disabled artists, the program was held at the Ramesh Chandra Dutt Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Friday from 5pm to 7pm.

The Child Health Awareness Foundation (CHAF) extended its support in making the program successful.

The event was presided over by the organization’s President Shamim Ara Khan Chowdhury Mita and hosted by its General Secretary Shahabuddin Ahmed Dolon.

The cultural segment commenced with a group performance of the national anthem. This was followed by a rousing rendition of the popular song by Hason Raja, “Baula ke banailo re”, energizing the audience.

In a brief welcome speech, General Secretary Shahabuddin Ahmed Dolon said: “Many people believe that visually impaired individuals are incapable of much. But the reality is that they are working competently in both government and private institutions, and some are even teaching.”

He added: “They also possess immense potential in music. With proper training and opportunity, they too can make remarkable contributions to this field. That is the vision with which we founded Sursudha Sangeetayan in 2013.”

Guest speaker Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, chair of Transparency International Bangladesh, said: “First, my sincere thanks to everyone at Sursudha Sangeetayan for organizing such a beautiful event. Every performance today—song, recitation, or dance—was truly impressive.”

He added: “Music is a form of devotion to the Creator. I’ve recently become involved with a music academy myself and would like to express our interest in supporting Sursudha Sangeetayan on behalf of that organization.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from President Shamim Ara Khan Chowdhury Mita.

Filled with music, poetry, recitation, and dance, the evening became a vibrant gathering of both disabled and non-disabled artistes and culture lovers. All attendees praised the initiative of the organization and urged that such efforts continue in the future.
