Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Dhaka Zone conducted a fire drill workshop at Tarunner Utshob 2025 at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys' High School on Wednesday.

In the workshop, participants received hands-on training on fire extinguishing techniques using equipment such as CO2, water-type fire extinguishers and ABC dry powder extinguishers.

Additionally, they were practically trained on how to extinguish fires involving gas cylinders or those occurring in confined spaces with a focus on remaining calm and acting effectively during such emergencies.

Ashik Rahman, a student of class seven, told Dhaka Tribune: “Previously, I did not know much about basic fire extinguishing; now I know about types of fire and different ways to extinguish it.”

The practical training happened on the playground of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys' High School.

BCG Dhaka Zone said: “Recently, a number of unexpected fire incidents have occurred in various parts of the country including the capital. These incidents have resulted in loss of lives as well as severe and widespread damage.”

According to BCG Dhaka Zone, the firefighting training drill is aimed at preventing such unfortunate events, minimizing damage to life and property and raising awareness.
