A student was killed when a motorcycle was struck by a covered van in Banglamotor.
The incident occurred around 4am on Friday.
The matter was confirmed by Hatirjheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shahidul Hasan.
The deceased, identified as 18-year-old Arshed Ahmed Sarker, an intermediate-level student at Ideal College, was the son of Md Anwar, a resident of Lalbagh in Dhaka.
According to the SI, the student was critically injured when the covered van struck the motorcycle at the Banglamotor intersection, causing him to be thrown onto the road.
He was found lying on the street and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 5am, where the doctor declared him dead, and his body has since been kept in the hospital morgue, the SI said.
The covered van involved in the incident has been seized, and the driver has been detained by the authorities, the SI added.
