Dhaka University authorities have formed a committee to investigate the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo.
Shammo was a student of Dhaka University’s Institute of Education and Research who was killed by unidentified assailants late on the night of Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the university administration formed a seven-member committee headed by Professor Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, dean of the Faculty of Arts.
The other committee members are: Professor Dr Muhammad Ekramul Haque, dean of the Faculty of Law; Professor Dr Taiabur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Dr Md Serajul Islam, provost of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall; and Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Sarker of the Department of Persian Language and Literature.
Assistant Proctor Sharmin Kabir will serve as the committee’s member secretary, while deputy registrar (Investigation) will serve as the committee secretary.
The committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within three working days.
