Thousands of spectators witnessed an extraordinary celebration in Dhaka’s sky on Monday, as the story of a “New Bangladesh” unfolded through a mesmerizing drone show to mark the Bangla New Year 1432.
The play of lights and shadows, the main attraction of the event, began at 7pm on Manik Mia Avenue, reports Bangla Tribune.

Organized under the theme “New Year, New Bangladesh,” the show was a joint initiative of the government of Bangladesh and the embassy of China in Dhaka, representing not just entertainment but a milestone in the friendship between China and Bangladesh.
In this 14-minute show, 2,600 drones painted the sky with 12 symbolic motifs.

The first motif paid tribute to the warriors of the July uprising, followed by visuals reflecting the joy of liberation, the courageous sacrifice of Abu Sayed, women’s empowerment, Bangladeshi culture, the unity of its people and global solidarity.
One particularly moving display expressed Bangladesh’s support for Palestine’s struggle, which deeply resonated with the audience.
The exhibition was a unique fusion of technology, history, humanity and culture.

The spectacle offered viewers a mix of emotions: hope, history, and heartfelt pride.
The show opened with a tribute to the martyrs of the July movement, highlighting a symbolic image of Abu Sayed, a central figure in the uprising.
The drones also formed the shape of a soaring bird, representing the indomitable spirit and freedom-loving nature of the people.

Another motif depicted the strength, resilience and empowerment of women through a striking symbolic image.
The drones crafted traditional Bangladeshi patterns, including motifs of local crafts, festive masks from Anando Shobhajatra, pithas and Santal sculptures.
One of the show’s most emotional moments came when drones depicted Bangladesh’s message of solidarity with Palestine’s freedom struggle.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh and China’s flags and a handshake symbolized enduring diplomatic and cultural ties.
A flock of doves soaring through the sky symbolized peace and the universal desire for freedom and harmony.
The show concluded with a symbolic image of a youth marching toward the future, holding the national flag.
Technical collaboration behind the scenes
The show was orchestrated by 13 Chinese drone experts and a six-member technical team, who had been preparing since February.
The drones were operated with precision, ensuring both safety and a seamless display.

Beyond entertainment
The drone show was not just about dazzling technology; it also spotlighted contemporary politics, humanitarian struggles, cultural pride and global solidarity.
At the show’s end, the audience stood, applauding in appreciation and hope.
