Two killed in private car-motorcycle collision on Kalshi flyover

Passersby rescued them around 11pm and took them to DMCH

Two motorcycle riders were killed in a collision between a private car and a motorcycle on the Kalshi Flyover in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Their identities have not yet been confirmed, but both victims are believed to be around 20–23 years old.

The accident occurred around 9:45pm on Friday on the Kalshi Flyover. During the collision, one of the motorcycle riders was thrown off the flyover.

Later, passersby rescued them around 11pm and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared them dead.

Pallabi police have detained two individuals, including the driver of the private car, in connection with the incident. Sub-inspector (SI) Md Sohan Molla of the Pallabi Police Station confirmed the matter, saying: “A private car was heading from ECB to DOHS when it collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. One of the two people on the motorcycle fell off the flyover. Locals later rescued and took them to the hospital.”

He added, “The private car has been seized, and both the driver and a young woman traveling with him have been detained. An investigation is underway to determine how the accident occurred.”

The deaths were also confirmed by Sub-inspector (SI) Md Masud Alam from the DMCH police outpost.

According to police sources, the seized vehicle (Dhaka Metro-G 45-4936) was driven by Md Akhtar Hossain Raj, 26, and a young woman named Sabiha, 23, was with him. Both are students.
