The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a mobile court to prevent road accidents, curb illegal activities by transport owners and workers, and ensure that buses do not become stranded on the roads during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the operation, Executive Magistrate Mohammad Anisuzzaman of BRTA Court-3 issued warnings to the owners of the concerned transport companies and took a bond from them for their illegal activities.

The mobile court was conducted on Saturday at various garages and vehicle body manufacturing factories from Gabtoli Bus Terminal to Beribadh.

The executive magistrate's team, along with police personnel, inspected workshops, recorded the license plate numbers of vehicles under construction, and immediately checked their fitness status in the online system.

Various irregularities were identified during the drive. However, workshop authorities—who refurbish buses and other vehicles with minimal modifications—claimed they were unaware of the legal restrictions.

Workshop workers were instructed to list vehicles that are not roadworthy and are being hastily repaired before Eid, as no clearance certificates can be issued for these vehicles before April 14.

Additionally, workshops were warned not to issue clearance certificates for such vehicles. Legal action will be taken if these unfit vehicles are found on the roads.

BRTA Executive Magistrate Mohammad Anisuzzaman said: "A large number of people will travel from Dhaka for Eid-ul-Fitr and return after the holiday. Before Eid, we want to ensure that no vehicle with a broken-down or unfit body is allowed on the roads. We have instructed workshop workers not to release such vehicles."

He further added: "To address these issues, we are conducting awareness-driven mobile courts in the workshops. We are warning the workers and making them aware of the regulations."

DMP Mirpur Division Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Yasina Ferdous said that regular operations and patrols will continue to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
