According to the case statement, senior police officials, including the assistant commissioner of Ramna Zone, requested the protesters not to block the road to ensure security near the chief adviser’s residence, a key state establishment, and to maintain smooth traffic movement.

However, the protesters allegedly became aggressive towards the police, attempting to break through barricades while wielding sticks.

They reportedly launched a sudden attack on the police, pelting stones and bricks.

As a result, several police officers were injured, including Ramna Zone Assistant Police Commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun.

In a press release, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that on Tuesday at around 3:35pm, around 60-70 protesters, both men and women, attempted to march towards the official residence of the chief adviser.

The statement further mentioned that the protesters allegedly used women as a shield to break the police barricade and move forward.

To ensure security and traffic flow, police requested them to leave, but the protesters reportedly became aggressive, engaging in scuffles and throwing bricks and stones at law enforcement officers, the DC said.
