Individuals injured during the July uprising and families of those martyred on Wednesday gathered in front of the Secretariat’s Gate No 5, adjacent to the National Press Club, to press home their three demands.
They organized a sit-in under the banner of "Injured and Martyr Families of the Mass Uprising."
Earlier in the morning, they had gathered at Shahbagh before proceeding towards the Secretariat around 12:30pm.
By 1pm, they had positioned themselves in front of Gate No 5 of the Secretariat.
Injured protester Jihad Islam stated: “We do not seek discrimination against the injured and martyr families."
Talking about the government's three-tier categorization of the injured, he said it has been done in a way that one group of injured individuals will not receive monthly allowances, "which is unacceptable.”
Later, at around 1:30pm, a six-member delegation from the protestors entered the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, while the rest of the protesters continued their sit-in outside the gate.
Their demands are placing the injured from the July uprising into two categories, implementing special protection laws to ensure the safety of martyrs' families and the injured, and providing proper healthcare, mental counselling, prevention of harassment, and the establishment of an emergency hotline to address their issues.
