Three snakes were found in the corridor of the Education Ministry on the 19th floor of Building No 6 at Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday, raising questions about how they reached such a high floor.
Officials and employees first spotted two snakes in the corridor after arriving at work in the morning. Another snake was seen in the same area a short while later.
The offices of the education minister and education secretary are located on the same floor.
Officials who witnessed the incident said the snakes were seen moving through the corridor, causing panic among ministry officials and employees.
Ministry employees later killed all three snakes.
However, their species could not be immediately identified.
The ministry’s public relations officials confirmed the incident on Thursday afternoon and expressed surprise at finding three snakes together on the 19th floor of the Secretariat.
They said there could be more snakes inside a storeroom or elsewhere in the building, adding to concerns among officials and employees.
The incident has also raised questions about how the snakes managed to reach the 19th floor and whether there are other snakes inside the building.
