Individuals injured in the July uprising and their relatives blocked Dhaka’s Shahbagh intersection on Monday afternoon, halting traffic in the area.
The protesters mentioned that the government is categorizing the injured into three groups—A, B, and C—for treatment, saying that those in the C category will not receive the same benefits as those in A and B, which they consider highly discriminatory.
Their demand is that all injured individuals should be placed in either the A or B category for treatment.
They added that there should only be two categories: injured and critically injured.
Additionally, the protesters have two other demands: launching a toll-free hotline service for medical assistance in remote areas and enacting a law to protect the injured.
Many protesters also demanded that all injured individuals be brought under government financial aid.
