Six representatives of expatriates, who were affected during the July Revolution protests in the UAE and other countries, set out to meet with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to discuss their concerns on Monday.

At 12pm, police from the Ramna zone escorted the group to the chief adviser’s residence, Jamuna.

The delegation included Khaled Saifullah, Mir Rajib, Mizanur Rahman, Yasin Apurbo, Naeem, and Mainuddin.

Speaking before their departure, Mainuddin expressed frustration, saying: "Despite repeated assurances since our return from Dubai, we have not been able to meet the Chief Adviser. Today, we are heading to meet him. If our demands are not addressed, we may have to consider drastic measures, such as halting remittances."

Earlier that day, around 10:30am, the expatriates set out from Banglamotor Mor, marching toward Dr Yunus’ residence.

However, when the procession reached the Intercontinental Mor, police blocked their way with a barricade, forcing the group to remain in place for about an hour, from 11am to 12pm.

Senior police officers from the Ramna zone arrived at the scene, speaking with the protesters and assuring them that their concerns would be addressed.

The expatriates’ three main demands include: a direct meeting with Dr Yunus, financial assistance and a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for those affected, and urgent, effective action from the government to safeguard the rights of migrant workers.
