The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic control guidelines at various locations in the city to manage congestion, starting Saturday.
In a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali on Thursday, the DMP said it will implement the following traffic controls to alleviate traffic around the Bijoy Sarani crossing:
Vehicles coming from Jahangir Gate towards Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Khejur Bagan and Manik Mia Avenue will not be allowed to turn right at Bijoy Sarani.
Instead, these vehicles will have to take a right turn before the entrance gate of the Chief Adviser's Office and proceed onto Agargaon Link Road, then continue via the BICC intersection or Agargaon crossing to reach their destination.
The DMP Traffic Division's efforts to control traffic on Manik Mia Avenue and Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Avenue in the Tejgaon Industrial Area have successfully reduced congestion, benefiting the general public, the notice reads.
The DMP Traffic Division requests the full cooperation of the city's residents to ensure smooth traffic flow.
