Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday said they have been working tirelessly to improve law and order and build a safe city.
“We have been relentlessly working to build a safe society,” he said in a view-exchange meeting as the chief guest at a local community centre of Rupnagar police station,
He urged city dwellers to cooperate by providing information about drug dealers, extortionists, and land grabbers, saying: “Simply assist us with the information, and we will take the necessary legal action against them. If any police officer is involved in criminal activities, share that information with us as well—they will not be spared.”
Highlighting the relentless efforts of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to improve law and order and create a safer city, the officer said: “As responsible citizens, we all have a duty to the state. As citizens, we must fulfill this responsibility for our families, society, and the nation. You want citizen-friendly police, and we want police-friendly citizens.”
He added: “The number of police personnel is significantly lower than what is required in proportion to the population. We have to work with this limited force. If the public and police work together, Dhaka will emerge as a safe city.”
