Madrasa student dies in Dhaka road accident

A 14-year-old student was killed in a poultry truck collision, leaving three injured

A 14-year-old madrasa student has been killed and three others injured in a road accident at the 300 Feet area of Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Md Sakibul Hasan Sakib, 14, a student of Ashrafia Madrasa (Hafizi) in Shibpur, Narsingdi.

The three other injured are Riaz, 30, son of Hazrat Ali; Dipu, 23, son of Liton; and the truck driver, Imran Hossain Babu, 24, son of Abdul Hamid. 

The accident occurred when a poultry truck lost control and hit another vehicle early Sunday morning.

Sakib was declared dead upon arrival at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The three injured are currently receiving treatment at DMCH.

DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the incident and said Sakib’s body has been kept at the hospital morgue. Relevant police stations have been informed.

Sakib hailed from Hasempur village in Raipura, Narsingdi, but his family resides in Tejgaon’s Nakhalpara. He was the eldest of three siblings.

His father, Md. Sharif Hossain, a poultry trader, said: “To ensure he reached his madrasa on time, I arranged an empty poultry truck to travelback. He had come home to visit us on Thursday and was returning to his madrasa.”
