Demand for inclusion of all non-MPO institutions into MPO system

The speakers at the human chain said that the previous fascist government created discrimination by introducing an illogical MPO policy

Update : 03 Dec 2024, 02:47 PM

The Non-MPO Educational Institution Teachers-Employees Council has demanded the simultaneous inclusion of all non-MPO recognized institutions into the MPO (monthly pay order) system, eliminating discrimination.

Non-MPO institutions include schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical and degree colleges.

This demand was made during a human chain program held in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday.

The speakers at the human chain said that the previous fascist government created discrimination by introducing an illogical MPO policy and staffing structure in 2021, depriving thousands of educational institutions of MPO benefits.

However, the recognized institutions have been operating without MPO for 20-25 years, with teachers and employees relentlessly continuing the teaching programs and making significant contributions to national education, they said.

During the previous Awami League government's tenure, many eligible institutions were deprived of MPO benefits due to being labelled with a BNP-Jamaat political tag, they claimed. On the other hand, institutions associated with the accomplices of the fascist government and the Sheikh family were included in the MPO system, they added.

They urged the interim government to eliminate this discrimination and include all recognized non-MPO institutions in the MPO system simultaneously.

Present at the human chain were the convenor of the Non-MPO Educational Institution Teachers-Employees Council, Principal Md Dabirul Islam; joint convenor Principal Md Imran Bill Solaiman; Assistant General Secretary of BASAD (Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal) Raqeekuzzaman Ratan; head teacher Abu Bakkar Md Ershadul Haque, and Md Farhad Hossain Babul, among others.
