A motorcyclist was killed and another passenger injured after hitting a pothole in Shahbagh, Dhaka, on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Md Sajib, 24. The injured is his friend Nishan, 25.
The incident took place when they were returning from a wedding reception.
The motorcycle lost control after hitting a pothole on a damaged road near the Ramna Kalibari Temple gate, throwing both riders off the vehicle.
Another friend, Mujahid, who was riding separately, rushed them to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Doctors declared Sajib dead at 2:20am.
Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police outpost confirmed the death and said the body had been sent to the hospital morgue. Shahbagh police station has been informed of the incident.
Mujahid said that Sajib was not wearing his helmet at the time of the accident, which may have worsened his injuries.
