Protesters at Shahbagh press for 35-year age limit for entry to govt jobs

Demonstrators say they reject 32-year job entry age limit

Update : 30 Oct 2024, 01:48 PM

Protesters demanding that the government raise the maximum age limit for job entry to 35 gathered at Shahbagh on Wednesday, urging the Ministry of Public Administration to implement the recommendations of a commission formed to review the cut-off age.

As announced earlier, the demonstrators gathered outside the National Museum.

After police intervened, the protesters moved to the front of the flower shops near Shahbagh police station.

Abu Naeem, one of the protest leaders, said: “The Ministry of Public Administration formed a commission based on our demand which recommended the entry age be set at 35.”

The recommendation had been disregarded and the age limit had been set at 32, he said.

“We reject this 32-year age limit and demand it be raised to 35 immediately, with an official notice issued without delay.”
