Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is in completely sound health, his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed on Wednesday.
"Last night, we got a huge number of phone calls and they inquired about the health of Prof Yunus. We want to inform you that he (chief adviser) is in completely sound health and well," he said in a press briefing in front of the State Guest House Jamuna.
Shafiqul Alam said the chief adviser held a meeting with a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) delegation on Wednesday as part of the ongoing dialogue of the government.
Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul and chief adviser's Special Assistant Mahfuz Alam were present at the meeting.
The chief adviser's Press Wing released numerous photos of the meetings he attended over the past week.
According to the press secretary, Prof Yunus attended a meeting on Tuesday and was also present at a separate meeting with BNP leaders.
Alam said that the government is engaging in talks with political parties, and as part of this effort, a meeting was held on Wednesday at the State Guest House Jamuna.
In response to a query regarding the removal of President Mohammed Shahabuddin, he said the government has not yet made any decision on the matter.
He also mentioned that the demonstrators in the areas surrounding Bangabhaban have been asked to leave.
Rumours were spread over the illness of Prof Yunus as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) formed a medical team on Tuesday for the treatment of the chief adviser.
Later, BSMMU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Sayedur Rahman issued a statement urging everyone not to spread rumours regarding the medical team responsible for treating the chief adviser.
Prof Sayedur said the BSMMU forms such medical teams regularly to provide treatment for the heads of state and government and it is a routine matter (work).
