An accident occurred in Badda, the capital city, where two sisters were hit by a bus while crossing the road during a race between two buses.

The younger sister, Tasnim Jahan Irin, 24, lost her life, and the elder sister, Nusrat Jahan Zerin, 28, was injured.

Tasnim Jahan had recently moved to Dhaka after completing her studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet and had taken up a job.

Both sisters worked at an IT firm named Next Ventures located at the PTC Center in Uttar Badda.

Tasnim was serving as an executive officer in the company.

Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Fatema Siddika Soma from Badda police station stated that around 9:15am on Wednesday morning, the two sisters were crossing Pragati Sarani road in Moddho Badda when they were struck by a bus involved in a race between two bus from Akash Paribahan.

Tasnim Jahan Irin died on the spot, while her sister Zerin sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Evercare Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

After the incident, a group of people took to the street and obstructed traffic movement to protest the killing.

The SI further said that both buses have been seized, and one individual has been arrested in connection with the incident.

After completing the legal procedures, Tasnim's body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

Tasnim Jahan, the daughter of SM Saiful Alam, hailed from Manikkhali village in Patharghata Upazila of Barguna district but resided in Pallabi's Palash Nagar, Mirpur.

Upon hearing the news of the accident, her father, relatives, colleagues, and classmates rushed to the DMCH morgue.

At the morgue, Tasnim’s father, heartbroken, said: "I have three daughters and one son. Two of my daughters worked at the same office. They had left home that morning to go to their workplace, but later I received the news that both of them were involved in a road accident. When I arrived, I found one daughter’s body, and the other is in the hospital."

Meanwhile, one of her office colleagues said that Tasnim's marriage was being discussed recently. After the autopsy, her family took the body in the afternoon for burial.
