Two brothers killed as truck rams motorcycle in Dhaka

  • The bodies were handed over to the family
  • The driver fled the spot with the truck

Two brothers were killed as a sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle in front of Sumatra Filling LPG Station on Kalshi Road in city’s Mirpur cantonment police station area around midnight on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Sifatur Rahman Safin alias Rahul, 22 and his younger brother Rafi, 16.

Bachchu Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, confirmed the matter on Friday saying that Both were sons of Zahirul Islam Ponir, a resident of Baunia Badh area of Mirpur.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Tajul Islam of Cantonment Police Station said that they were heading towards Kalshi area from ECB Chattar and suddenly a truck hit the motorcycle, leaving them critically injured.

They were rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital and subsequently transferred them to DMCH, he said, adding that Rahul was declared dead around 3.30am while Rafi succumbed to his injuries around 8:30am, he said.

The bodies were handed over to the family, he said.

The driver fled the spot with the truck, he said, adding that legal action was taken in this regard.
